“Never open a pizza shop.”

That’s what they tell you in culinary school. But Chef Pete didn’t take that advice, and now his Detroit-style pizza has taken over Pittsburgh. We wanted in.

Just months after laying eyes (and taste buds) on the distinct, square-dish style — in Colorado, of all places — Pete Tolman opened Iron Born Pizza, and has since perfected his wildly popular recipe in Pittsburgh’s restaurant incubator, Smallman Galley. When we met, he had just signed the papers on his inaugural stand-alone pizza shop in Millvale, PA.

In preparation for opening day, Iron Born needed the works — a revolutionized logo, store facade, menus, boxes, and last but not least, a fresh website to get the orders rolling in.

A modular menu
board for ever-
changing appetites.

Chef Pete likes to switch things up more often than your regular pizza joint. We teamed up with Dietz Fabrication to design an easy-to-modify menu board that stands as a striking centerpiece in the front of Iron Born’s modest Millvale storefront.
