Wesley Spectrum and Family Services recently merged into Wesley Family Services in order to bring leading care and assistance to the greater community of Western Pennsylvania. Their collective efforts have a profound impact on those in the Pittsburgh area and surrounding communities, but it takes a great deal of work to bring people and programs together — especially when those programs serve such a wide gamut of ages and difficulties.
Those challenges, coupled with an aggressive deadline placed the Wesley Family Services website among be the greatest UI/UX challenges we’ve faced to date. We chose to meet it head-on.
Bucking the trend of welcoming users with endless scrolling, we decided that speaking directly to WFS’s core audience was very important. We coupled a six tile, persona-based navigation with bold, hand-painted props in lieu of traditional icons. This unconventional approach is nested within a more familiar navigation structure, as key service areas rotate along side.
Wesley Family Services is the embodiment of two of our Core Values: Distilled Disruption and Guts Guaranteed. The tendency in the social services industry is to follow a certain pattern of design and organization of information. We turned the model on its head, creating a captivating and unique design. It stands out and gets users directly to the services and information they need.
